The West Virginia Miners (24-14) beat the Butler BlueSox (18-18) 6-3 on Sunday at Linda K. Epling Stadium behind Zach Sterry, who went 2-4 and hit a home run.

He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Matt Anderson picked up the win for the West Virginia Miners. Anderson allowed one earned run, seven hits and four walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.

The Butler BlueSox were led by Matt Hansen's hitting. Hansen went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.

Connor Coward ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
