The Butler BlueSox (11-14) beat the Quincy Gems (10-14) 4-3 on Thursday at Quincy Stadium behind Matt Hansen, who went 1-3.

Cody Jackson put together a nice outing. Jackson held the Quincy Gems hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Anthony Villa did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Quincy Gems, reaching base three times. He singled in the first innings and doubled in the eighth inning.

J.T. Baksha pitched lights out for the Quincy Gems. Baksha held the Butler BlueSox hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Tyler Slepski improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Butler BlueSox. He allowed three runs over five innings. Slepski struck out one, walked four and gave up seven hits.

Bill Oxford was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
