A walk-off single from Grey Schultz brought home the winning run for the Springfield Sliders (8-10) in a 3-2 victory over the Terre Haute Rex in 15 innings at Robin Roberts Field on Saturday.
Jesus Caporal had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the eleventh inning and doubled in the ninth and thirteenth innings.
James Kannenberg pitched lights out for the Springfield Sliders. The Terre Haute Rex (14-4) managed just one hit off of the the Springfield Sliders' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out six during his seven innings of work.
Connor Jacobs got the win, running his season record to 2-0. Jacobs struck out three, walked one and gave up four hits.
Mitch Schulewitz (1-1) took the loss for the Terre Haute Rex. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
