Jake Eikleberry did his part on the bump, but it wasn't enough to carry the Hannibal Cavemen (0-5) to a win on Saturday, as the Hannibal Cavemen fell to the Terre Haute Rex (5-0) 4-1 at Clemens Field.
Eikleberry held the Terre Haute Rex scoreless for eight innings. Eikleberry allowed three hits, three walks and struck out five.
Korie Vire racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Terre Haute Rex. He tripled in the ninth inning.
Samuel Higgs had an impressive outing against the Hannibal Cavemen's lineup. The Hannibal Cavemen managed just two hits off of the the Terre Haute Rex's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out five during his six innings of work.
Matt Weissheier recorded his first win of the year for the Terre Haute Rex. Weissheier struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.
Connor Keating couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Hannibal Cavemen, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
