Justin Paul went 2-3, helping the West Virginia Miners (1-0) to a 7-2 victory over the Chillicothe Paints (0-1) on Wednesday at VA Memorial Stadium.

The Chillicothe Paints couldn't get anything going as long as Anthony Brunetti was pitching. The Chillicothe Paints managed just two hits off of the the West Virginia Miners' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none during his 3 2/3 innings of work.

It was a good day at the plate for the Chillicothe Paints' Deion Tansel. Tansel went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings.

Steve Huber had an impressive outing against the West Virginia Miners' lineup. Huber held the West Virginia Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Adam Niemeyer couldn't get it done on the mound for the Chillicothe Paints, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
