Boxscore | Game Recap | Boxscore Text Version | Gamelive Version

The Santa Fe Fuego top the Trinidad Triggers behind Numata's 3 hits, 17-10

Story by Narrative Science.

An outstanding effort by Chevas Numata carried the Santa Fe Fuego (42-20) to a 17-10 win over the Trinidad Triggers (32-24) on Friday at Central Park.

Numata blasted two home runs for the Santa Fe Fuego. Numata went 3-6 in the game with four RBIs and four runs scored. Numata homered in the first and fourth innings.

The two teams combined for 27 runs and 34 hits, including zero extra base hits. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were eight pitchers used in the game.

The Santa Fe Fuego stamped out any hope for the Trinidad Triggers with seven runs in the seventh. The Santa Fe Fuego scored in the seventh on a two-run double by Brice Cutspec, a wild pitch, a two-run single by Preston Zachrich, and a two-run double by Omar Artsen.

The Trinidad Triggers couldn't get anything going as long as Alex Teal was pitching. Teal gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Mike Mullen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked four and struck out three.
