Matt Barlow kept the Newfoundland and Labrador (0-3) off the board during his six innings of work and the Prince Edward Island (1-2) beat the Newfoundland and Labrador, 8-6.

Barlow allowed three hits, no walks and struck out nine.

The Prince Edward Island's Barlow showed his talents on both sides of the diamond with a strong game on the bump and at the plate.

Barlow led the Prince Edward Island's offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and second innings.

The Newfoundland and Labrador jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Newfoundland and Labrador led until the sixth inning, but the Prince Edward Island took the lead back on a two-run double by Brady VanderVelden.

Brandon Jackson had a hot bat for the Newfoundland and Labrador. Jackson went 3-4 and drove in one. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Brett Glover ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked four and struck out one.
