Daniel Rogers was cold coming off the bench, but Rogers warmed up quickly as Rogers stroked a key pinch-hit single in the one to lead the British Columbia (2-0) to a 9-1 win over the Prince Edward Island (0-2) on Thursday at Amedee Roy.
With the British Columbia leading by three in the first inning, Rogers came to the plate and singled.
Six runs in the first three innings helped the British Columbia blow out the Prince Edward Island. An RBI single by Evan Bannister, an RBI triple by Brennan Hegel, and an error during the first inning and an RBI double by Bannister and a sacrifice fly by Cohen Bogart in the second inning supplied the early offense for the British Columbia.
Hegel had three extra-base hits for the British Columbia.
Rogers brought the heat against the Prince Edward Island during his outing. The Prince Edward Island managed just one hit off of Rogers, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 3 1/3 innings of work.
Sam Walsh ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.
The British Columbia were sparked by Bannister and Hegel, who teamed up for seven hits and five RBIs.
