Mackenzie Pinet was strong at the plate and on the rubber in carrying the Newfoundland Labrador (1-0) to a 14-4 victory over the Saskatchewan on Thursday at Field two.

Pinet racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Newfoundland Labrador. He singled in the first and second innings and doubled in the fifth innings.

Pinet brought the heat against the Saskatchewan (0-2) during his outing. The Saskatchewan managed just two hits off of Pinet, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his three innings of work.

Seven runs in the first three innings helped the Newfoundland Labrador blow out the Saskatchewan. An RBI single by Pinet during the first inning and , an RBI single by Pinet, an RBI single by Stephanie Crane, , and in the second inning fueled the Newfoundland Labrador's offense early.

Paige Thompson (0-1) took the loss for the Saskatchewan. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
