Chris Sweeney went 1-1 and hit a home run, sparking the Evansville Otters (53-34) to a 3-1 victory in seven innings over the Florence Freedom (40-50) on Friday at Bosse Field.
He homered in the second inning.Trevor Walch handled the Florence Freedom's lineup with ease, racking up nine strikeouts. Walch allowed one earned run on three hits and four walks over 4 2/3 innings.
A bright spot for the Florence Freedom in the defeat was Jorge Marban, who allowed only two runs while striking out 12.
Anthony Collazo got the win, running his season record to 3-2. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Marban ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year.
