The Wareham Gatemen (2-6) beat the Cotuit Kettleers (4-4) 8-3 on Thursday at Lowell Park behind Andrew Knizner, who collected three hits.

The Cotuit Kettleers had no answer for Anthony Kay, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Cotuit Kettleers managed just two hits off of Kay, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Austin Byler put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Cotuit Kettleers. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Mason Klotz had an impressive outing against the Wareham Gatemen's lineup. The Wareham Gatemen managed just two hits off of Klotz, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Brock Hartson got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed three runs over six innings. Hartson struck out seven, walked one and gave up six hits.

Blake Stevens (0-1) took the loss for the Cotuit Kettleers. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
