A five-run explosion in the eighth inning spurred the California Warriors (6-2) to a 9-1 win over the Central Valley Bears at Marin Catholic HS on Saturday.

The California Warriors scored in the eighth on a single by Justin Gubser, , an RBI double by Cameron Merriwether, a groundout by Lucas Erceg, and a hit by pitch.

Sean Goodall paced the California Warriors at the plate. Goodall went 2-4, drove in one and scored three runs. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the third inning.

The California Warriors got the win thanks in large part to Matt Ladrech's dominant, five-strikeout performance. Ladrech allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over six innings.

Kirby ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in eight innings, walked four and struck out six.
