The Joliet Slammers (3-0) and the Southern Illinois Miners (0-3) each put runners in scoring position on Sunday, but the Joliet Slammers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-4 win at Silver Cross Field.

Sam Moore put together a nice outing. The Southern Illinois Miners managed just one hit off of Moore, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.

Ryan Cavan got on base three times in the game for the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the third and seventh innings.

Matt Miller (0-1) took the loss for the Southern Illinois Miners. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
