Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from David Mason could carry the Clark (31-15) past the Lane (30-18) at Titan Field on Monday as the Clark suffered a 7-3 defeat.
Mason paced the Clark at the plate. Mason went 1-2 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth inning.
The Lane couldn't get anything going as long as Mason was pitching. The Lane managed just three hits off of the the Clark's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out three during his three innings of work.
Tucker Campbell racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lane. He singled in the second and fifth innings.
Shane Quarterley pitched lights out for the Lane. Quarterley held the Clark hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three.
Sam Kosbab (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
