Kyle Fernandes came off the bench and never even had to swing his bat as Fernandes reached on a passed ball in the eight to lead the RR Legion (10-7) to a 6-4 win over the Newport (5-9) on Tuesday at Cardines Field.

Josh Ferreira racked up three RBIs on three hits for the RR Legion. He singled in the first, third, and eighth innings.

Brandon Shileikis brought the heat against the Newport during his outing. Shileikis held the Newport hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

Rich Jenkins racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Newport. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Fernandes recorded his first win of the year for the RR Legion. He allowed four runs over six innings. Fernandes struck out nine, walked five and gave up four hits.

CJ Silva was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
