Austin Prott had two extra base hits, sparking the Alpine Cowboys (34-17) to a 10-5 victory over the Santa Fe Fuego (28-18) on Tuesday at Fort Marcy Park.
He doubled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and homered in the eighth inning.The Santa Fe Fuego couldn't get anything going so long as Aaron Corwin was on the hill. Corwin held the Santa Fe Fuego hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Eric Kozel was hot from the plate for the Santa Fe Fuego. Kozel went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fourth and eighth innings.
Charlie McCready (2-1) took the loss for the Santa Fe Fuego. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
The Alpine Cowboys' Corey Caswell, Riley Smith, Prott and Casanova Donaldson combined for 11 hits and six RBIs.
