The Chatham Anglers make the most of 9 hits in 6-5 victory over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox

The Chatham Anglers (17-23) and the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (23-18) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Chatham Anglers that eventually took advantage of them in a 6-5 win at Veterans Field.

The Chatham Anglers were led by Chris Shaw's hitting. Shaw went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the third innings and singled in the seventh inning.

The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox had no answer for Zack Burdi, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Burdi held the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Andrew Stevenson was hot from the plate for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. Stevenson went 4-5 and drove in one. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the first, second, and ninth innings.

Jordan Hillyer got the win, running his season record to 5-0. He allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out seven, walked one and surrendered nine hits.

Kevin Duchene ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
