The Orleans Firebirds (17-11) and the Cotuit Kettleers (13-15) both had scoring chances on Monday, but it was the Orleans Firebirds that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 7-6 win at Eldredge Park.
Bobby Poyner brought the heat against the Cotuit Kettleers during his outing. Poyner held the Cotuit Kettleers hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Jackson Glines racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Cotuit Kettleers. He singled in the third innings, doubled in the fifth inning, and homered in the ninth inning.
Grayson Jones ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
