A walk-off single from Jon Mayer brought home the winning run for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (8-5) in a 4-3 victory over the Worcester Bravehearts (11-4) at Vineyard Baseball Park on Friday.

The Marthas Vineyard Sharks were led by Mayer's hitting. Mayer went 1-1. He singled in the ninth inning.

Mitch Leeds allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out five over six innings of work.

Tyrone Miller pitched lights out for the Worcester Bravehearts. Miller held the Marthas Vineyard Sharks hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Mike Fitzgerald got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Jack Riley (0-1) took the loss for the Worcester Bravehearts. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
