Mason leads the Atwater Aviators to 32-9 win over the Nevada Big Horns

Monday was a great day for Evan Mason, as he hit two home runs to carry the Atwater Aviators (6-8) to a 32-9 victory over the Nevada Big Horns (7-10) at McQueen HS in seven innings.

Mason racked up nine RBIs on four hits for the Atwater Aviators. He singled in the second and third innings and homered in the second and fourth innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 41 runs and 45 hits, including zero extra base hits. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were six pitchers used in the game.

Twenty-two runs in the opening three innings allowed the Atwater Aviators to easily put away the Nevada Big Horns. A two-run error, a three-run home run by Lance VanNoy, a single by Mason, an RBI single by Robert Kellerman, a two-run single by Kellerman, an RBI single by David Vidari, a three-run home run by VanNoy, an RBI single by Matthew Farias, and a three-run home run by Mason in the second inning fueled the Atwater Aviators' offense early.

Michael Lawn got on base three times in the game for the Nevada Big Horns. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the first inning and singled in the second inning.

Mike Nelson got his first win for the Atwater Aviators despite allowing five runs over three innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered eight hits.

Zachary Muenster ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed 16 runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.

The Atwater Aviators easily handled the Nevada Big Horns pitching as eight hitters combined for 29 hits, 28 RBIs and 28 runs scored.
