The Atwater Aviators (6-7) beat the Nevada Big Horns (6-10) 16-3 on Tuesday at McQueen HS after an 11-run explosion in the third inning.

The Atwater Aviators scored in the third on , a two-run single by Matthew Farias, a two-run error, , a single by Darren Trainor, an RBI double by David Vidari, , a single by Christian Kahler, , and a sacrifice fly by Evan Mason.

Kahler did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Atwater Aviators, reaching base five times. He scored one run and had two RBIs.

The Atwater Aviators relied on Brent Backlund to eat up innings en route to the win. Backlund allowed three earned runs, nine hits and two walks while striking out four over nine innings of work.

Eric James was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed 11 runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked seven and struck out two.

The Atwater Aviators pounded the Nevada Big Horns pitching, as six hitters combined for 12 hits, 10 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
