An outstanding effort by Hayden Duer hoisted the Sacramento Heat (11-12) to a 5-3 win over the Nevada Big Horns (8-19) on Saturday at Folsom Lake College.
Duer rocked the Nevada Big Horns with three home runs. Duer went 3-4 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Duer homered in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.
The Nevada Big Horns were led by a flawless day at the dish by Evan Ramirez, who went 4-4 against the Sacramento Heat's pitching. He singled in the first, third, fifth, and seventh innings.
Julian Barron got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed three runs over seven innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered nine hits.
Robert Ortega ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
