Scheffert's single gives the Joliet Slammers walk-off win over the Frontier Greys, 9-8

A walk-off single from Josh Scheffert brought home the winning run for the Joliet Slammers (37-55) in a 9-8 victory over the Frontier Greys (29-62) in 11 innings at Silver Cross Field on Saturday.

It was a good day at the plate for the Joliet Slammers' Scheffert. Scheffert went 2-6, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fourth and eleventh innings.

The two teams combined for 17 runs and 24 hits, including zero extra base hits. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using 11 pitchers in total.

JD Dorgan racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Joliet Slammers. He homered in the fourth inning.

David Kubiak got the win, running his season record to 3-0. Kubiak struck out three, walked one and gave up one hit.

Jarret Leverett ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
