The Southern Illinois Miners (56-36) and the Normal CornBelters (48-43) each put runners in scoring position on Saturday, but the Southern Illinois Miners capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 7-5 win at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

Frank Martinez boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the first and third innings and tripled in the seventh inning.

Hunter Ackerman brought the heat against the Normal CornBelters during his outing. The Normal CornBelters managed just two hits off of Ackerman, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Patrick McKenna racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.
