Tanner Witt went 2-5 as the Rockford Aviators (35-49) took home a 5-1 victory over the Joliet Slammers (31-53) at Silver Cross Field on Thursday.
He doubled in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.Ryan Zimmerman racked up seven strikeouts in the the Rockford Aviators win. Zimmerman allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over seven innings.
Andrew Strenge pitched lights out for the Joliet Slammers. The Rockford Aviators managed just two hits off of Strenge, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Matt Crim was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
