The Southern Illinois Miners (49-33) took home a marathon 3-2 victory over the Frontier Greys (27-54) on Tuesday at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

With the score tied at two in the fourteenth inning, Niko Vasquez came to the plate and homered.

The Frontier Greys couldn't slow down Ryan Cavan, who paced the Southern Illinois Miners with six hits. He singled in the first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth, and eleventh innings.

Matt Bywater baffled the Frontier Greys, striking out eight batters. Bywater allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks over seven innings.

Paul Mittura had an impressive outing against the Southern Illinois Miners' lineup. Mittura held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Hunter Ackerman got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Ackerman struck out three, walked none and gave up one hit.

B.J. Hyatt (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
