An excellent effort by Cullen Babin carried the Normal CornBelters (37-39) to an 11-0 win over the Gateway Grizzlies (45-32) on Wednesday at The Corn Crib.
Babin held the Gateway Grizzlies scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on five hits while ringing up one.
Aaron Dudley hit two home runs for the Normal CornBelters. Dudley went 2-5 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Dudley homered in the second and fifth innings.
The Normal CornBelters ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The Normal CornBelters scored three runs in the final three innings to cap the blowout win. An RBI single by Sam Judah and a three-run home run by Dudley helped the Normal CornBelters score four runs in the fifth. The Normal CornBelters had four hits in the inning.
Kerry Kelley (3-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked three and struck out two.
