Early lead not enough for the Joliet Slammers, drop 7-4 decision to the Lake Erie Crushers

The Joliet Slammers (29-47) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 7-4 to the Lake Erie Crushers (43-32) on Tuesday.

While the Joliet Slammers led until the fifth inning, the Lake Erie Crushers worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI double by Ryan Connolly.

Andrew Davis racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lake Erie Crushers. He singled in the first inning.

Adrian English led the Joliet Slammers' offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the first, second, and ninth innings.

Brandon Smith recorded his second win of the year for the Lake Erie Crushers. Smith struck out none, walked two and gave up one hit.

Andrew Busby (2-6) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out two.
