Both the Lake Erie Crushers (37-30) and the Evansville Otters (40-25) put runners aboard on Saturday, but it was the Lake Erie Crushers that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 7-5 win at All Pro Freight Stadium.
Vincent Mejia blasted two home runs for the Lake Erie Crushers. Mejia went 2-4 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. Mejia homered in the sixth and eighth innings.
Shayne Houck racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Evansville Otters. He singled in the third inning and homered in the fifth inning.
Brad Zambron improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Erie Crushers. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Jose Velez (1-2) took the loss for the Evansville Otters. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
