Wednesday was a great day for Chris Burke, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Southern Illinois Miners (39-25) to a 20-11 victory over the Normal CornBelters (30-33) at The Corn Crib.

Burke racked up nine RBIs on five hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He tripled in the first inning, singled in the third innings, doubled in the seventh inning, and homered in the sixth and eighth innings.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 31 total runs and 36 hits during the game. There were eight pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

The Southern Illinois Miners stamped out any hope for the Normal CornBelters with six runs in the eighth. The Southern Illinois Miners scored in the eighth on , a solo home run by Matt Jones, , and a solo home run by Burke.

Jhiomar Veras racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the first, third, and fourth innings and homered in the ninth inning.

Steve Hagen recorded his first win of the year for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked four and surrendered seven hits.

Kurt Schluter couldn't get it done on the hill for the Normal CornBelters, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
