The Florence Freedom (25-34) didn't have a chance on Sunday, as the Southern Illinois Miners (36-25) won in blowout fashion, 9-3 at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

A three-run home run by Chris Burke delivered the runs in the first. The Southern Illinois Miners had one hit in the inning.

The Southern Illinois Miners came out swinging, scoring three runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Florence Freedom early.

Frank Martinez put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Miguel Ramirez picked up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. Ramirez pitched nine innings and allowed three earned runs, five hits and no walks while striking out four.

Michael ONeal ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
