Hunter Ackerman held the Florence Freedom (22-31) scoreless for seven innings to boost the Schaumburg Boomers (31-24) to a 5-1 victory.

Ackerman struck out five and allowed one walk and four hits.

Joe De Pinto put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He singled in the first inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and homered in the seventh inning.

Chuck Weaver was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 7 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
