The Florence Freedom get on top of the Lake Erie Crushers early but can't hang on in 4-3 loss

The Florence Freedom (22-30) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 4-3 to the Lake Erie Crushers (29-25) on Sunday.

The Lake Erie Crushers took the lead in the ninth inning on a two-run single by Trevor Stevens.

Vincent Mejia racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lake Erie Crushers. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Mickey Jannis handled the Florence Freedom's lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Jannis allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks over six innings.

Peter Gehle was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Lake Erie Crushers batters and allowing two runs.

Jason Wilson improved to 6-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Erie Crushers. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Jorge Marban (2-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
