The Gateway Grizzlies (35-19) continued to pile up the runs on Saturday, scoring five runs in the last three innings, on the way to an 18-4 landslide win over the Traverse City Beach Bums (21-32) at Wuerfel Park.
An RBI single by Madison Beaird and a three-run home run by Michael Wing helped the Gateway Grizzlies score four runs in the third. The Gateway Grizzlies had five hits in the inning.
Richard Seigel racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He homered in the fourth inning, singled in the third and sixth innings, and doubled in the seventh inning.
The Traverse City Beach Bums couldn't get anything going as long as Tyler Buckley was pitching. Buckley held the Traverse City Beach Bums hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
The Traverse City Beach Bums were led by Chris Cowell's hitting. Cowell went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Aaron Newcomb recorded his eighth win of the year for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked four and surrendered 10 hits.
Casey Delgado (5-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out three.
The Gateway Grizzlies pounded the Traverse City Beach Bums pitching, as seven hitters combined for 23 hits, 17 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
