A walk-off single from Aaron Gates brought home the winning run for the Southern Illinois Miners (24-20) in a 4-3 victory over the Rockford Aviators (19-23) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL on Saturday.

A bright spot for the Rockford Aviators in the defeat was Joey Wagman, who allowed only two runs while striking out seven.

James Bierlein got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Gerardo Sanchez (0-2) took the loss for the Rockford Aviators. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
