An impressive effort by Zac Treece carried the Lake Erie Crushers (23-21) to an 8-1 win over the Frontier Greys on Saturday at All Pro Freight Stadium.
Treece kept contact to a minimum, striking out 10 the Frontier Greys (11-33) batters. Treece allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over nine innings.
The biggest inning for the Lake Erie Crushers was the fourth. The Frontier Greys had no answer as the Lake Erie Crushers scored five runs. The Lake Erie Crushers scored in the fourth on an error, a single by Joey Burney, a triple by Ryan Hutchison, a single by Juan Sanchez, , and a single by Emmanuel Quiles.
Hutchison paced the Lake Erie Crushers at the plate. Hutchison went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs.
Chris Ellison was hot from the plate for the Frontier Greys. Ellison went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the ninth inning.
Oliver Van Zant couldn't get it done on the mound for the Frontier Greys, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked four and struck out two.
