The River City Rascals top the Joliet Slammers behind Kometani's 4 hits, 18-7

An outstanding effort by Zach Kometani carried the River City Rascals (22-13) to an 18-7 win over the Joliet Slammers (14-20) on Wednesday at T. R. Hughes Ballpark.

Kometani rocked the Joliet Slammers with two home runs. Kometani went 4-5 in the game with five RBIs and four runs scored. Kometani homered in the second and sixth innings.

Fourteen runs in the opening three innings allowed the River City Rascals to easily put away the Joliet Slammers. An RBI single by Saxon Butler, a two-run single by Josh Ludy, an RBI single by Kometani, an error, a two-run double by Hector Crespo, and a three-run double by Butler in the first inning and a solo home run by Kometani and a solo home run by Evan Crawford during the second inning fueled the River City Rascals' offense early.

The River City Rascals scored 10 runs in the first inning to build an early lead.

Russell Moldenhauer reached base two times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the fourth inning.

Trey Lambert got his first win for the River City Rascals despite allowing six runs over five innings. Lambert struck out three, walked two and gave up 10 hits.

Andrew Busby (1-3) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed nine runs in zero innings, walked three and struck out none.
