A four-run seventh inning sealed an 11-2 win for the Southern Illinois Miners (16-14) over the Gateway Grizzlies (20-11) on Thursday at GCS Ballpark.

Ryan Cavan racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the seventh inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Matt Bywater's seven strikeouts were enough to push the Southern Illinois Miners past the Gateway Grizzlies. Bywater allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings.

Xavier Macklin paced the Gateway Grizzlies at the plate. Macklin went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning.

Tucker Jensen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out three.
