The Rockford Aviators (7-8) jumped out to an early lead on the Traverse City Beach Bums (7-8) and captured a 9-3 victory on Sunday at Aviator Stadium.

Six runs in the first three innings allowed the Rockford Aviators to put the game away early.

A two-run single by Cohl Walla and a two-run double by Kyle Dhanani in the first inning and an RBI double by Jose Martinez and an RBI single by Kenny Bryant during the second inning fueled the Rockford Aviators' offense early.

Martinez put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Rockford Aviators.

Ryan Zimmerman put together a nice outing. The Traverse City Beach Bums managed just one hit off of Zimmerman, who allowed two earned runs, walked three and struck out five during his 6 2/3 innings of work.

Patrick Merkling couldn't get it done on the bump for the Traverse City Beach Bums, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.

Walla, Martinez and Bryant helped lead the Rockford Aviators. They combined for eight hits and seven RBIs.
