A nine-run explosion in the first inning carried the Gateway Grizzlies (10-4) to a 17-3 win over the Frontier Greys (2-12) at GCS Ballpark on Friday.

The Gateway Grizzlies scored in the first on a hit by pitch, a hit by pitch, , an RBI single by Blake Shepherd, a fielder's choice, and a home run by Madison Beaird.

Shepherd racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Gateway Grizzlies.

Tucker Jensen got the win for the Gateway Grizzlies thanks to seven strikeouts. Jensen allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks over seven innings.

Patrick Lowery (0-2) took the loss for the Frontier Greys. He allowed six runs in one-third of an inning, walked two and struck out none.

The Gateway Grizzlies pounded the Frontier Greys pitching, as six hitters combined for nine hits, 15 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
