Aaron Gates went 3-3 at the plate, sparking the Southern Illinois Miners (4-6) to a 9-5 victory in seven innings over the Windy City ThunderBolts (6-4) on Wednesday at Standard Bank Stadium.

Andrew Brauer got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the second, fifth, and sixth innings.

Even though Miguel Ramirez allowed five runs over five innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered eight hits.

Daniel Cropper (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in three innings, walked one and struck out three.
