Both the Joliet Slammers (5-4) and the Normal CornBelters (3-6) put runners aboard on Sunday, but it was the Joliet Slammers that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-4 win at Silver Cross Field.

Grant DeBruin boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Joliet Slammers. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Sam Judah racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Ryan Connolly got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Connolly struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits.

Drew Provence (1-2) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two and struck out two.
