Xavier Macklin drove in three runs, helping the Gateway Grizzlies (3-1) to a 7-2 victory over the Joliet Slammers (3-1) on Tuesday at GCS Ballpark.

Tucker Jensen picked up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. Jensen allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk while striking out three over 6 2/3 innings of work.

Grant DeBruin was hot from the plate for the Joliet Slammers. DeBruin went 2-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Michael Johnson couldn't get it done on the mound for the Joliet Slammers, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
