Aaron Newcomb hopes every outing could go as well as Saturday, as Newcomb threw eight scoreless innings to carry the Gateway Grizzlies (2-0) to a 1-0 victory over the Traverse City Beach Bums at GCS Ballpark.

Mike Devine was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Gateway Grizzlies batters and allowing one run.

Devine couldn't get it done on the mound for the Traverse City Beach Bums (0-2), taking a loss.
