Both the Alameda Merchants (24-20) and the West Coast Kings put runners aboard on Wednesday, but it was the Alameda Merchants that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 2-0 win at College Park High School.
The West Coast Kings had no answer for Cameron Rowland, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Rowland held the West Coast Kings hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Peter Nyznyk got the win, running his season record to 4-1. Nyznyk struck out one, walked none and gave up three hits.
Alley ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
