Early lead gives the South Bay Storm easy victory over the Alameda Merchants, 11-4

The South Bay Storm (13-8) shut the door early on the Alameda Merchants (9-12), capturing an 11-4 victory on Wednesday at College of Alameda.

With seven runs in the first three innings, the South Bay Storm left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A two-run home run by Jesse Medrano, an RBI double by Jarret Costa, and an RBI double by Gordon Deacon during the first inning supplied the early offense for the South Bay Storm.

Medrano put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the South Bay Storm.

Clayton Nodal brought the heat against the Alameda Merchants during his outing. The Alameda Merchants managed just two hits off of the the South Bay Storm's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Michael Pope pitched lights out for the Alameda Merchants. Pope gave up just three hits, allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out four during his four innings of work.

Brandon Facha (1-2) took the loss for the Alameda Merchants. He allowed nine runs in three innings, walked three and struck out four.
