The Marysville Goldsox drop the Alameda Merchants 6-4 behind Alexander's early single

The Marysville Goldsox jumped on the Alameda Merchants (4-4) early on their way to a 6-4 win on Sunday at Appeal-Democrat, scoring four runs in the first inning.

The Marysville Goldsox scored in the first on an RBI single by Alexander, an RBI single by Lininger, and a two-run single by Wagner.

Alexander racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Marysville Goldsox.

Dick pitched lights out for the Marysville Goldsox. The Alameda Merchants managed just one hit off of the the Marysville Goldsox's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.

The Alameda Merchants were led by Jordan Grubbs's hitting. Grubbs went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the third, sixth, and eighth innings.

Gusler got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over four innings. Gusler struck out one, walked four and gave up five hits.

Andrew Herrera (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked three and struck out one.
