Matthew Chavarria was cold coming off the bench, but Chavarria warmed up quickly as Chavarria stroked a key pinch-hit double in the five to lead the Terre Haute Rex (24-15) to a 7-4 win over the Quincy Gems (23-15) on Sunday at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stad.

With the Terre Haute Rex trailing by three in the fifth inning, Chavarria came to the plate and doubled, scoring Tony Rosselli.

Cayce Bredlau racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Terre Haute Rex. He homered in the fifth inning.

Greg Jacknewitz got the win, running his season record to 3-2. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out one, walked five and surrendered three hits.

Vince Braman (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
