The Quincy Gems (20-14) continued to pile up the runs on Saturday, scoring seven runs in the last three innings, on the way to a 19-5 landslide win over the Springfield Sliders (6-28) at Robin Roberts Field.
The Quincy Gems scored six runs in the fourth on the Quincy Gems scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Adam McGinnis, , a two-run single by Matt Marek, a sacrifice fly by Sean Ullrich, and an RBI single by Mitch Gasbarro.
McGinnis racked up six RBIs on five hits for the Quincy Gems.
It was a good day at the plate for the Springfield Sliders' Dane Sauer. Sauer went 2-3 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Jake Busiek got the win, running his season record to 4-1. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered six hits.
Chance Simpson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
The Quincy Gems easily handled the Springfield Sliders pitching as six hitters combined for 14 hits, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
