The Columbia Basin fifth-inning burst enough to top the Walla Walla, 9-3

An eight-run explosion in the fifth inning carried the Columbia Basin (14-4) to a 9-3 win over the Walla Walla (14-4) at Columbia Basin Baseball Field on Saturday.

Braden Wolgamott racked up four RBIs on one hit for the Columbia Basin. He homered in the fifth inning.

Stetson Plew pitched lights out for the Columbia Basin. The Walla Walla managed just one hit off of Plew, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Jarod Gonzales was hot from the plate for the Walla Walla. Gonzales went 1-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.

Jacob Gleichman got the win, running his season record to 4-0. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. Gleichman struck out one, walked three and gave up eight hits.

Kalani Omoto ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
